ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – The Athens Police Department has found a missing woman.  Police say Frances Lovell, 77, is alive and well.

Athens police officer Tom Allen and Athens resident Judy Malone spotted Lovell across from the Boys and Girls Club on Washington Street around 11:30 a.m.

She was in good spirits, but was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital to be checked as a precaution.

Lovell went missing on Wednesday afternoon. There was special concern because she may be suffering from dementia.

Athens Police say they wish to thank Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely for providing a helicopter to assist in the search and the HEMSI Search Dog Unit for their quick response as well.
