Crews Respond to House Fire in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville Fire Department responded to a house fire at the corner of Nottingham Lane and Todd Mill Road near Weatherly Drive early Thursday morning.

Just before 1:00, a driver saw flames coming from the home and called 911.  When firefighters arrived at the South Huntsville home, flames were shooting 20-30 feet through the roof.  Crews immediately called in a second alarm, bringing in an extra truck to help battle the fire.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in 30 minutes.  The fire appeared to have been contained in the attic of the two-story home.

Nobody was living at the home at the time of the fire.  According to neighbors, the home was under renovation at the time.

Firefighters had to block off Nottingham Lane for a several hours while putting out the fire.

Investigators are looking into what caused the early morning blaze.
