Battle Re-Elected Mayor In Landslide Victory

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - There's no uncertainty about who won the Huntsville mayoral race on Tuesday.  Tommy Battle claimed victory early on, and ended up winning with more than 80 percent of the vote.

With all of the votes in, here are the final numbers:

  • Tommy Battle: 22,833 votes, or 81%
  • Loretta Spencer: 4,312 votes, or 15%
  • Jackie Reed: 1,157 votes, or 4%

Battle celebrated the victory at the EarlyWorks Children's Museum.  He thanked supporters, city employees and family members.  He said he will return to work first thing Wednesday morning to meet with department heads to focus on the city's future.
