COLUMBUS, Ga. (WHNT) - There's new information in the investigation of a bomb threat made to Carmike Cinemas last week.

Carmike released a corporate statement on Thursday, saying the FBI has identified the person suspected of making the bomb threats.  The FBI says it believes the person is "no longer a threat".

"While the FBI advances its criminal investigation into the threats directed at various Carmike Cinemas, it remains a pending investigation," said Special Agent Stephen Emmett of the FBI's Atlanta office.  "No further details regarding this matter are available at this time."

Someone called Carmike Cinemas' corporate office in Columbus, Georgia on August 16 and made the threat.  The person called in after hours.

The threat was not specific against any theatre.  Carmike Cinemas alerted community law enforcement officials and the FBI, who searched theatres in several cities but found nothing.

In Alabama, Carmike has theatres in Huntsville, Decatur and Florence.  Police checked theatres in each of these cities as well.
