HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Thursday, Mayor Tommy Battle got a big boost in his re-election campaign.

The Huntsville Police and Firefighters associations endorsed Battle today for the August 28th municipal election.

“We appreciate Mayor Battle’s support of Huntsville firefighters. We feel he’s the best choice for moving Huntsville forward and can make sure we have the tools we need to do our job even with a challenging budget situation," said Steve Butler, president of the Huntsville Fire Fighters Association. "He’s been fair as a manager of the city, and has made difficult decisions that have helped our city get through tough times.”

The Fraternal Order of Police endorsed Mayor Battle earlier this year.

“I’m proud to have the support of those who keep our community safe," said Battle. "I look forward to continuing to support them over the next four years."

Battle faces Loretta Spencer and Jackie Reed in the August 28th municipal election.
