ANNISTON, Ala. (WHNT) — A 5-year-old child who authorities say was abducted Sunday evening has been found safe, according to Anniston Police.

Michiri Dabney is with his father in Illinois, according to police.  Police say the father took the boy as part of a child custody dispute.

Anniston Police are also talking with the Calhoun County District Attorney’s office about possible charges against the mother.  The mother had a custody hearing in April in Illinois, but didn’t show up for it.

Police first thought Dabney was abducted while playing outside of an Anniston home around 5:15 p.m. Sunday.  He was outside with an 8-year-old when a white van with a black stripe drove up to the yard.  The driver got out of the vehicle, grabbed the boy and drove away.  An AMBER alert was issued.
