Stars Hold Off Smokies

With the potential game tying run just 90 feet away, Huntsville Stars
closer Brandon Kintzler struck out Tennessee Smokies left fielder
Nelson Perez to nail down a 4-3 victory on Friday night at Smokies
Park. With the game tied up at 2-2 in the top of the ninth, the Stars
got a solo homer from right fielder Brock Kjeldgaard and a pinch-hit
RBI single from T.J Mittelstaedt to put them over the top. From the
pitching side, Stars starter Josh Stinson gave up just one run and
three hits in seven innings while striking out six in a no-decision.
Releiver Darren Byrd improved to 3-5 on the season with the victory
after giving up a run in the eighth inning.

Game four of a five-game series will take place on Saturday as the
Stars will send RHP Evan Anundsen (5-7, 4.88 ERA) to the mound. First
pitch is at 6:15 ET.
