Killen, ALA. (WHNT) - A group of volunteers in the Shoals needs your help building a house, for a family in need.

It's a project that got delayed by the tornado outbreak last year and now the group says it's time to get the construction started again.

When Devin Robertson was just a baby, he came to live with his grandparents in this mobile home but this home can be a hindrance.

“Nothing in their mobile home is handicap accessible.  They need some help they need all of our help,” said project coordinator, Barbara Austin

Devin's elderly grandparents, Buddy and Ann Robertson care for the 10-year-old with cerebral palsy.

However his grandfather turned 75 this year, and with age comes new obstacles.

“She needs the capability to function and he does too, so they don`t have to lift and pull and tug to get out,” said Austin.

The small group of volunteers has a big goal.

“This is a step of faith again for all of us,” said Austin.

However, the project coordinator says Devin’s grandparents have always kept faith.

Starting with little, this group needs to raise enough money to build a home for Devin that will help his aging grandparents care for the boy, for many more years.

“I think if people stop and think about what we got here and the need we got here they will come forward with it,” said volunteer, Leo Ray.

For now, it's a project funded by faith but these volunteers need your help to make this paper layout a reality.

“We all help where we can.  Some of us can come out and hammer a nail, or help with furniture, appliances, and some of it can be money or time.  Anything is appreciated,” said volunteer Brad Brooks.

A bank account will open at all Bank Independent locations starting Monday, August 6th.

Donations must be made within 30 days.  After a month, the account must be closed.  If the group has enough donations, the building will begin.
