HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) - Friends and family members gathered together Thursday night to remember a Hazel Green teen who died in a car wreck earlier this week.

Dozens of people gathered at Flint River Baptist Church in Meridianville, where they paid tribute to 17-year-old Kayla Rachelle Allen.

Kayla was killed Tuesday night when her car ignited after crashing on Easter Ferry Road in Limestone County. The cause of the wreck is still not known, but state troopers told WHNT News 19 that excessive speed may end up playing a factor.

Kayla would have started her senior year at Hazel Green High School next month. Friends say she was known for her big smile and outgoing personality.

"Her personality, she was so bubbly," said Jamie Renfro, a friend of the victim's family. "It's just heartbreaking, the way it happened, the way it played out.

"She could make you laugh within seconds of meeting you," said Allen's friend Samina Aftab. "She was a people person."

Kayla Rachelle Allen also attended Elkmont High School before transferring to Hazel Green.
