Shirley Cromartie has been bowling for more than 45 years. She has a long history of bowling achievements in Huntsville with the HWBA/WIBC/HUSBC Associations.
She was the first black female to be elected to the Huntsville Women's Bowling Association's Board of Directors in 1964 on which she served until 1983.
Locally, she was 6th on the all city team in 1985. She has bowled numerous 200 games and 600 series. Most notably, she is a member of the 700 club. She was on the team that won 1st place in 1973. She served on HWIBC ways and means for 2 years and as Sgt of Arms for the HWIBC Board Director.
On the state level, she served as a delegate representing the Huntsville Association. From 1968-1990 she participated in the Alabama Women's state tournaments. Her acccomplishments include being a member of the first place scratch team in 1990. She won first place doubles in 1984. In 1983 she won 1st place singles scratch and all events.
On the National level she has been a bowler for more than 20 years.
Her administrative achievements are as following; she has served as President of the 2011-12 Pin Palace Seniors League. In the past she has served as a lane Representative for Pin Palace and she is a certified YABA coach.
Others: She helped to organize TNBA and served as its 1st tournament director.
