BRUSH CREEK, Ala. (WHNT) – In Lauderdale County, investigators are continuing to piece together the events that led up to three people being stabbed at a county campground overnight.

One of the stabbing victims has died, and has campers there very concerned.

Jackie Behel has been camping at Brush Creek Campgrounds for several years.

But waking up to separate stabbings next door has Behel re-thinking his choice of camp sites.

“I ain’t coming back over here, even if they do re-open it,” said Behel. “I will go to the other side.”

Just before midnight, Behel woke up to a plea for help.

According to investigators, a fight between two men ended with one person being stabbed.

Jackie Behel’s wife drove the injured man to the hospital, “Here’s somebody running around with a knife, so I just stayed inside with the door locked.”

Deputies were not able locate the suspect at that time.

According to Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department Investigators, Savanna Brooke Parrish, a family member of the stabbing victim came to the camp site just before 5-am, looking for the person who stabbed her grandfather.

During a second altercation, witnesses say that Parrish stabbed the man thought to be involved in the first fight, and then she was stabbed.

Savanna Parrish was transported to ECM Hospital in Florence, but died just after arriving.

“It is a tragedy; there are other family members who are going to be hurting over this,” said Chief Investigator Travis Clemmons.

According to family members, Savanna Parrish leaves behind a 3-month old child.

Investigators say they are questioning numerous witnesses who were at the camp site.

The victim of the first altercation is being treated at ECM Hospital in Florence.

Raymond Demetrius Gibson Jr. who was stabbed in the second altercation was treated and released.

No charges have filed in the case at this time.
