Stars Split Doubleheader with BayBears

To finish up their season series against each other, the Huntsville
Stars split a doubleheader against the Mobile BayBears. The Stars lost
game one by a score of 2-1 and won game two by a score of 4-2.

In game one, the Stars lost wasted a strong outing from starting
pitcher Josh Stinson. The 24-year-old righty pitched five scoreless
innings for Huntsville, giving up seven hits in the process. Reliever
Darren Byrd was tabbed with the loss, falling to 2-5 on the season
after giving up a two-run homerun to BayBears OF Alfredo Marte in the
sixth inning. On offense, the Stars scored their only run on a
bases-loaded walk by catcher Adam Weisenburger.

In game two, the Stars were the beneficiaries of a four-run sixth
inning. Shortstop Tommy Manzella started everything off by scoring
from second base on a wild pitch from BayBears starter Brett Lorin.
Huntsville then got a RBI double from center fielder Josh Prince and a
pair of RBI singles third baseman T.J Mittelstaedt and second baseman
Domnit Bolivar. On the pitching side, Reliever Dan Meadows improved to
1-1 on the season after three innings of scoreless relief and RHP
Brandon Kintzler notched his fourth save of the season after sending
down the BayBears bats in order in the seventh.

The Stars will return home on Saturday to begin a four-game series
against the Birmingham Barons. First pitch is at 6:43 PM.
