HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – When the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s baseball season ended in May at the NCAA South Regional, five of the Chargers’ players scattered about the nation this summer with assignments in various collegiate summer leagues.
Following the completion of the collegiate summer leagues, players will return to campus for the fall semester in mid-August to continue UAH’s preparation for the 2013 college baseball season.
Junior outfielder Justin Pearson has led the Richmond RiverRats to a 21-16 overall mark in the Prospect Collegiate League, and was selected to the Mid-Season All-Star Team. Pearson leads the league with 44 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .533, while ranking third in the league with a .400 batting average. He has six doubles, two triples and two home runs on the summer. His team is currently amidst a six-game winning streak.
UAH freshman Chandler Brock is having a successful summer with the Xenia Scouts (11-13) in the Great Lakes Collegiate League. Brock is hitting .294 this summer, with seven doubles, four home runs, nine runs scored and 11 RBI.
First-Team All-GSC sophomore catcher Justin Riddle is having a successful summer with the Madisonville Pirates in the Ohio Valley League. Joining Riddle on that squad are fellow Chargers sophomore Blake Massey and freshman Logan Crook, as the three have led Madisonville to a 16-15 mark on the summer.
