North All-Stars Knock Off The South Team In Boys Basketball Game

Montgomery, Ala. - The North stats got 15 points and 12 rebounds from MVP Derunnya Wilson in a 65-57 victory over the South team Wednesday in the AHSAA Boys Basketball All-Star Game. The Wenonah standout helped the North improve to 44-25 in the all-time series.

Defense paved the way for the North, which forced 19 turnovers that included13 steals on the night.

The South led by as many as 14 points in the second quarter and took a 32-25 lead into the half, but the North used a 19-6 run in the third period to regain the lead and never looked back. Six straight points by Wilson turned a two-point deficit into a 38-34 lead with 3:36 remaining in the third quarter.

Pickens County’s Bobby Bradford and Gadsden City’s Charlie Terrell added 11 points each for the North.

The South stars were led by MVP Jeremy Johnson. The Carver-Montgomery standout led all scorers with 17 points and added two assists, five rebounds and two steals. Southside-Selma’s Jeffery Mack also reached double figures with 11 points for the South.
