HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) It is a Huntsville murder case that is still unsolved nearly a year after neighbors made a gruesome discovery.

Danny Hamaker’s remains were found in a Huntsville storm drain August 24th.

Leads have dried up in this case and now the Hamaker family and police investigators are hoping someone has information that will break this case wide open.

Hamaker disappeared from a Shoney's restaurant parking lot August 13, 2011. His body was found in a storm drain August 24th off Pulaski Pike. The cause of death has never been released to the public. Police say that is information they need to keep secret in order to protect their investigation.

Family members say the past 11 months since his death have been very hard and not knowing how their loved one died and who killed him has made it even harder.

"If you know anything about who may have killed my son, by all means step forward,” Dewey Hamaker told WHNT News 19 during an exclusive interview Sunday.

Police say they still have investigators assigned to the case, but it has been hard to get new leads.

The family plans on holding a memorial service on the anniversary of the day Hamaker’s body was discovered.
