Alabama State Troopers are woking special detail statewide and all week long during the travel, picnics and partying that come with the July 4th holiday.

"Wee actually doing this in Birmingham, Mobile, all your major cities," says Alabama State Trooper Curtis Summerville. "They're doing it all over the place, this is a part of our detail, detection and enforcement for the holiday period. We have special funds, grants that we receive to go out and enforce this particular detail, so all additional troopers are actually out working on this 4th of July holiday."

Trooper Summerville says state police are particularly concerned with the following issues:

  • Drunk Driving
  • Distracted Driving
  • Inexperienced Drivers
  • Speeding Motorists
  • Fatigued Drivers

Trooper remind all drivers to have their license, registration and proof of insurance on hand during this busy holiday week.
