HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville Police shut down South Parkway between English Drive and Mountain Gap Road Monday night because of a wreck in front of the Kangaroo station.

Police say a motorcycle was traveling south on Memorial Parkway at a high rate of speed when a Jeep Liberty pulled out of the Kangaroo, hitting the bike.  The impact was so powerful, it threw the riders about a block away.

Police say Aaron Bergmann was driving the motorcycle, but it was owned by Amanda Miller, who was riding with him.

Police say Bergmann may face charges, because after he was thrown from the motorcycle, he got up and allegedly tried to flag down another vehicle and flee the scene.  Police expect to charge him with assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

Both Bergmann and Miller were taken to Huntsville Hospital.

Police also say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

The driver of the SUV will not face charges.
