Just after 2:00 Monday morning emergency crews responded to Highway 231 in Lacey’s Spring for a single-vehicle accident.

Motorists saw a car traveling south on Highway 231 leave the road, lose control, and flip several times before slamming into a tree.

Lacey’s Spring volunteers, HEMSI and the Madison County Rescue Squad raced to the scene.  Once they arrived, it took about 20 minutes to free the driver.  Once freed, HEMSI paramedics rushed her to Huntsville Hospital in serious condition.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department had to reroute southbound traffic for over an hour while Alabama State Troopers investigated the accident.
