What you plant can actually help with the sound in your yard.  In this Garden Tip, George Bennett shows you one of the benefits of having a fig tree.

Bennett says fig trees grow very large in just a few years.  They have large leaves which can help block noise. 

Figs also give off fruits in the summer. 

Fig trees lose their leaves during the winter, so they're not going to block as much noise during the colder months, but in summer, you should definitely notice a difference.
