A Lawrence County man is charged with rape and kidnapping for allegedly holding a Madison County teenager against her will.  Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Jerry Lynn White, Jr. is being held on $45,000 bond.

Investigators say White picked up a 17-year-old girl in Madison County and brought her back to Lawrence County, where he allegedly held her against her will for four days.

Sheriff Mitchell said during this time, White physically and sexually abused the teen.

The Sheriff said White learned law enforcement was looking for the girl, as well as her family, and he dropped her off at a Huntsville business.

Mitchell said the girl then contacted her family and law enforcement and told them what happened.  Investigators were able to obtain DNA evidence, which linked White to the sexual assault.

The Sheriff said prior to the DNA match, White indicated he did not know the girl and had not been with her.  Sheriff Mitchell said White changed his statement when investigators showed him the DNA evidence.

White is being held in the Lawrence County Jail.  He also faces prosecution for violation of the Community Corrections Act out of Morgan County.
