The man investigators say shot six people, killing 3, at an off-campus apartment complex in Auburn has turned himself in.

Desmonte Leonard, with his attorney by his side, turned himself in to U.S. Marshals late Tuesday evening in Montgomery.

Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson held a news conference Tuesday night. He thanked all law enforcement offices who helped with the search for Leonard. Leonard will be processed into the Montgomery County Jail, and housed there for some time.

Chief Dawson spoke to the parents of the shooting victims hoping the arrest helped to give the families the closure they deserve.

Dawson said Leonard seemed to be in perfect health when he saw him.  He also said there would be no bond set in this case.

Right now, Chief Dawson says he doesn’t think there will be anymore arrests in this case, but he said he can’t be certain about that until the investigation is complete.

“A lot of prayer went into this case,” says Dawson “and we ask for continued prayers as we continue to investigate this case.”

Auburn University Jay Gogue released this statement minutes after the news conference Tuesday night:

“We appreciate the dedication and commitment of the Auburn City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. This is a difficult time for our campus and community. We’re remembering those who lost their lives, and it’s important that we pull together to help those who are grieving and recovering. We’re offering counseling to students, and we’ve reached out to the families. I ask everyone to offer your thoughts, prayers and support to those who need it.”
