Huntsville Police say a man arrested after a standoff on Greenside Drive is a suspect in two robberies that happened in the past several days.

John Patrick Dudley, 31, was arrested Sunday evening.  Police say Dudley robbed the Wal-Mart pharmacy at Drake Avenue and Memorial Parkway on Sunday afternoon.  He also allegedly robbed the North Alabama Educators Credit Union on Whitesburg Drive on Friday.

The standoff began around 5:30 p.m.  He surrendered about four hours later, after family members helped coax him out of the house.

"This is an example of community policing, where the business worked with us and the community worked with us, and even the family members that cared about this individual were able to work with us to come to a peaceful resolution," said Harry Hobbs, a spokesman for HPD.

Nobody was injured during the standoff.

Dudley also has previous charges against him in Madison County dating back to 2005.  At least one is for robbery.
