A resort and restaurant in the Shoals gets named in the top 5 percent of all establishments across the country.

The Mariott Shoals takes home the title for the 6th year.  It's restaurant claims the AAA 4 diamond award for the first time.

It's the only restaurant and resort north of Birmingham to receive this industry honor.

The 360 Grille sits high in the sky but now it takes home the highest honor for a different reason.  Its the quality and service that stands out.

“We`ve always taken the attitude in the Shoals, to hire the attitude and train the skills,” said Larry Bowser, Marriott Shoals General Manager.

AAA workers visited 59,000 resorts and restaurants across the country, going in as a typical customer and analyzing every aspect of their operation.

“It allows people in this area to experience the same level of service as a 4 diamond property in New York or Chicago or San Francisco or a metro market provides, people can get the same level of experience here in Florence,” said Al Gibbs, Alabama AAA Vice President.

From the kitchen to the dining room, everything is in place to draw a crowd.

Bowser says, some people travel for hours to visit the shoals...

“There are guests that visit here for the first time when they leave here they are trying to remember about their visit, they don`t remember the color of the carpet or anything else, more so they remember how they are treated,” said Bowser.

Bowser says it’s a tradition of excellence, his staff plans to uphold in order to bring in others to this area.
