The postseason honors continue to roll in for the University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team as the squad placed more players than any other in the country with six earning spots on the 2012 NFCA All-Region Teams, as announced by the association on Thursday.

The Chargers placed five on the All-South Region Team as Mary Kelley, Kelli Long, Abby MacKay, Cortney McNett, and Stephanie Needham earned the honor, and Kathryn Whitlock took home Second-Team accolades.

The five First-Team selections matched the highest total in the country as Valdosta State also placed five on the squad, giving the two traditional powerhouses 10 of the 12 spots.

Each of the five Chargers that landed on the first team also earned Daktronics All-South Region honors, while Whitlock grabs her first all-region recognition of the season.

NFCA member coaches in each of the eight regions selected this year’s all-region teams, and all honorees are now eligible to be selected to one of three All-American teams.

The 2012 NFCA Division II All-American teams will be announced on on the evening of Wednesday, May 16.
