The Hollywood Police Department can now send alerts to residents using an e-mail and text message service.

It’s called Nixle, and is already in use by several other Tennessee Valley law enforcement agencies.

Hollywood Police are the first Jackson County agency to sign up for the service.

Nixle delivers messages about severe weather, missing persons, and other safety alerts.

You can see if the service is available in your area and sign up at theĀ Nixle website.
