Thieves hit two pharmacies in the Shoals and police believe both cases are connected.

Russellville police say three men threw a rock through the front window of Hometown Pharmacy on Gandy Street just after 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Just 40 minutes later, officers were on the scene of a break-in at the Drug Shop on Jackson Street.

Police say the thieves took more than 13,000 pain pills, worth about $65,000 on the street.

Investigators think the thieves are trying to replenish their supply after a recent drug round-up.
