Florence investigators say the a man wanted in connection with a shooting turned himself into police.  Investigators charged Desmond Powers with attempted murder in connection with the shooting on Mobile Street.

One shot was fired inside an apartment at Carver Heights in Florence on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators do not believe this a random shooting.  Powers is the victim’s ex-husband.  The 24-year-old woman was shot one time in the hip.

Police say the woman was alert and talking to emergency responders, but they flew her to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Police say other people were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.  Investigators say they are speaking with witnesses about what they saw and what happened just minutes before the shooting.
