The University of Tennessee announced today that redshirt freshman linebacker Christian Harris underwent successful surgery last week to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. Harris suffered the injury during spring practice on April 2.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Greg Mathien and Dr. Russell Betcher of the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic at UT Medical Center. The timetable for Harris’s return is to be determined.

Harris is a 6-2, 238-pound linebacker from Etowah High School in Woodstock, Ga. He was a member of Tennessee’s signing class in February of 2011 and redshirted during the 2011 season.
