The University of Alabama’s 2012 BCS National Championship trophy is no more.  The Waterford Crystal Coaches Trophy, valued at $30,000, was on display in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility for the A-day game Saturday.

The father of a current Alabama football player tripped on a rug that was under the trophy display, USA Today reports.

UA athletic department spokesman Jeff Purinton confirmed the news to WHNT News 19 Tuesday morning.  “We are starting that process now,” Purinton said via email, referring to a plan to replace the trophy.
