Free Dump Day in Limestone County

If you have tornado debris that you need to get rid of, Saturday March 31 is the day to do it. Just go to the Transfer Station at 13275 US Hwy 72 west, just before you get to 7 Mile Post Rd. Each resident can bring one truckload of debris from 7 a.m. to noon. You’re asked to bring a photo ID and an electric bill as proof you are a Limestone County resident.

Here are some of the restrictions:

*Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners must have their compressors removed, or be accompanied by a receipt showing that Freon has been professional removed.

*No hazardous chemicals or medical waste.

*Limit of 4 automobile tires per load.

*No contractors will be permitted to dump free.

Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful is asking everyone to be earth friendly and recycle what you can before taking items to the dump. The recycling center is located at 5896 Lucas Ferry Road, one building south of Hwy 72 in Athens. It’s open Tuesdays-Fridays  7:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., except during lunch hours from 11:30-12:30.
