The Alabama Department of Transportation will close a section of I-65 northbound from Hartselle to Priceville.  It’s so repairs can be made to the stretch of highway that caved in.

The slide is located near mile marked 330 in Morgan County.

Commercial vehicles will have to exit I-65 at Exit 318 (U.S. 31 at Lacon and Vinemont). Other vehicles will exit at Exits 325 (Thompson Road at Hartselle) and 328 (Alabama 36 at Hartselle).

Repairs are expected to take 14 days, and southbound interstate traffic will not be affected.  The contractor will work 24/7 for the next two weeks.  If the work is not completed within that time frame, the state will penalize the contractor monetarily.  If the work is completed early, the contractor will receive a bonus.

The slide since last weekend has settled several feet, affecting the shoulder behind temporary concrete barriers along the outside northbound lane.
