A wreck in Limestone County killed a man late Tuesday night, when authorities say his speeding car slammed into a culvert.

The crash happened at 11:15 p.m.  A witness tells WHNT News 19 that a man was racing another car on Highway 72 westbound in Limestone County. This was about four miles east of Athens.

Authorities say Adam Stryker Telle, 25, crashed his 2005 Infiniti.  He died at the scene.  Telle lived in Athens.

One lane of Highway 72 was shut down while Athens EMS and East Limestone firefighters worked the scene.

Alabama State Troopers say speed was definitely a factor in the crash.  They also said Telle was not wearing a seat belt.
