Ty Watwood is excited to be to be a member of the WHNT News 19 family. He joined the staff in December 2010 as Executive Producer of WHNT News 19 This Morning. Ty is a lifelong resident of Cullman County, and a graduate of Wallace State College in Hanceville and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He and his family pull for the Crimson Tide!

Before WHNT News 19, Ty worked as a producer for 4 years at FOX6 in Birmingham, and 2 years at NBC13 in Birmingham. While in college, he interned at WHNT News 19.

Ty has been happily married to his wife, Elizabeth, for 6 years. They have an 18 month-old daughter, Madeline. Her favorite show? WHNT News 19 This Morning of course! Otherwise, it has to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Ty and his family are members of Hanceville First United Methodist Church, where Ty currently serves as lay leader.

    Huntsville Police Investigating Shooting on Wilbur Avenue

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened just after 10:00 a.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Wilbur Avenue.  At least one person was shot. Two people, one male and one female, are being treated for gunshot wounds.  Both transported themselves to the hospital.  Police are interviewing witnesses. The shooter is believed to be at large.  Neither the identification of the shooter nor the description of the vehicle is known.

    MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Madison County deputies are investigating three break-ins that happened early Wednesday.  All three may be connected.     PULASKI, Tenn. (WHNT) — WHNT News 19 has learned the identity of the pilot who died Tuesday morning in Pulaski.  His plane crashed on TN Highway 11. According to CBS station WTVF in Nashville, the small plane caught fire shortly after the crash.     NASA: Spacewalk Ends Early Due to Slight Malfunction

    (CNN) — A spacewalk outside the International Space Station was cut short Tuesday morning because of a slight malfunction with one of the astronauts’ space suits, NASA said.     Major Delays Getting Onto Redstone Arsenal Due to Furloughs

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Those who work on Redstone Arsenal are experiencing major delays trying to get to work this morning.  It is a direct effect of sequestration. At one point, traffic was backed up from Gate 9 all the way to University Drive, which is approximately 2.5 miles.  Gate 1 is backed up to Whitesburg Drive, which is also more than 2 miles.
