Ty Watwood is excited to be to be a member of the WHNT News 19 family. He joined the staff in December 2010 as Executive Producer of WHNT News 19 This Morning. Ty is a lifelong resident of Cullman County, and a graduate of Wallace State College in Hanceville and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He and his family pull for the Crimson Tide!

Before WHNT News 19, Ty worked as a producer for 4 years at FOX6 in Birmingham, and 2 years at NBC13 in Birmingham. While in college, he interned at WHNT News 19.

Ty has been happily married to his wife, Elizabeth, for 6 years. They have an 18 month-old daughter, Madeline. Her favorite show? WHNT News 19 This Morning of course! Otherwise, it has to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Ty and his family are members of Hanceville First United Methodist Church, where Ty currently serves as lay leader.

    FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Florence Police Department says a woman reported missing has been found. Candace Pyland Harrison, 25, was found Wednesday morning. Prior to this, she had not been seen since leaving work at Swamper’s Bar and Grill late Tuesday night. Police say Harrison is safe.

  • Deadly Wreck Under Investigation in Marshall County

    MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Alabama State Troopers are investigating a deadly wreck that happened late Sunday night in the Wakefield community. Emergency crews responded just before midnight Sunday to the head-on collision on Highway 227.  When crews arrived, they found that a minivan and SUV had collided.  Wakefield volunteer firefighters had to use heavy equipment to free one driver who was trapped in his vehicle for 45 minutes.  Once freed, he was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with critical injuries.     (CNN) — NSA leaker Edward Snowden’s application for political asylum has been approved and he has left a Moscow airport, Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told CNN on Thursday.     (CNN) — A Kansas company is recalling about 50,000 pounds of ground beef products over fears of E. coli contamination. The National Beef Packing Co.’s products , which were shipped nationwide, may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Wednesday.     HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Hartselle Police say the suspect in a shooting Wednesday morning at an Exxon gas station is in custody. Lt.   • Propane Tank Plant Explodes in Central Florida

    (CNN) — Equipment failure and human error likely caused the propane tank cylinders to explode at a central Florida refilling plant late Monday, a fire official said Tuesday. The blasts at the Blue Rhino plant in Tavares injured eight plant workers. Residents nearby saw a pulsating glow in the sky.
