Tim Kelly produces WHNT News 19 at 9:00 p.m. three nights a week. He also produces our weekend newscasts.

Tim was born in Chicago, but moved to Huntsville at just two years old. After graduating from Huntsville High School, Tim went on to Auburn University, where he graduated with a degree in Mass Communications in 2008.

Tim loves the Chicago Cubs, which gives him a cynical sense of humor he occasionally parlays into stand-up comedy. He’s got a great sense of humor and keeps us laughing constantly.

  • Limestone County Sheriffs Find Guns, Gambling Machines During Raid

    Thursday night the Limestone County Sheriffs Department made an illegal gaming operations bust at Tommy’s Game Room at the intersection of Nuclear Plant Road and Lucas Ferry Road. 14 people were inside playing the illegal gaming machines when Sheriff Mike Blakely served the warrant at 9:00 pm. They found nine guns, 27 illegal gambling machines, $7,500 and a complex surveillance system.  All the items were confiscated by the sheriff’s department. 42-year-old Thomas White is charged with promoting gambling.

  • Cab Driver Robbed at Gunpoint in Huntsville

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Police are investigating the robbery of a driver who works for A Plus Cab Company. The cab driver says just after 11:30 two men approached his cab at the corner of Governors Drive and Clinton Avenue.  One man had a gun, but it was the other man that hit the driver over the head.  They demanded money and got $40 from the driver before taking off towards Stone Middle School.   • Governors Drive Reopened After Three-Vehicle Accident

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Police are investigating a Monday night wreck on Governors Drive that involved three vehicles. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Governors Drive and Parkhill Road. HEMSI Paramedics took four victims to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  One victim had to be rescued after his car slid around 20 yards into a ravine. The wreck had Governors Drive completely blocked, but crews reopened the road early Tuesday Morning.

  • Police: Father Shoots Son in Northwest Huntsville

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police are investigating a man’s death at the intersection of Westwood Drive and Bragg Street in Northwest Huntsville. Just after midnight, Huntsville Police responded to 4700 Westwood Drive for a shooting.   • Huntsville Police Investigating Armed Robbery to Arby’s

    Huntsville Police are investigating a Wednesday night armed robbery to the Arby’s on Memorial Parkway near Governors Drive. According to witnesses, just before midnight the suspect jumped over the counter and demanded the clerk give him the money from the register.  They also say the man was using a purple gun during the robbery.   • Alabama State Troopers Chase Driver into Madison

    Alabama State Troopers found themselves in a short chase late Monday night. Just before 11:00, Troopers were making a traffic stop on Interstate 565 near County Line Road.  As Troopers approached the vehicle, the driver took off, at which point the Troopers pursued the driver.  They say it appeared the driver was throwing drugs out of the window.     Huntsville Police are investigating an armed robbery to the Exxon at the corner of Highway 431 and Sutton Road. Around 10:15, a man walked into the store wearing a hat and a bandana over his face.  He pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register.  He got the money and fled toward Hampton Cove.   • 12 Dead, 59 Injured in Mass Shooting at Colorado Movie Theater

    AURORA, Colorado (CNN, WHNT) —  A heavily armed gunman tossed tear gas into the darkness of an Aurora, Colorado movie theater Friday and then sprayed the audience with gunfire during an early morning screening of the new Batman movie, killing 12 and wounding 59 others, authorities said.   • Fatal Motorcycle Wreck in Huntsville

    Huntsville Police are on the scene of a fatal wreck involving a motorcycle on Chapman Mountain. According to Huntsville Police, a motorcycle traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour was going east and cresting the top of Chapman Mountain at Epworth Drive when he slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler.   • Huntsville Home Catches Fire For Second Time in a Year

    It was a busy night for Morgan County Deputies, as two busts yield guns, marijuana, prescription drugs, a counterfeit money operation and four arrests. First deputies executed a search warrant at a home on 19th Avenue in southeast Decatur just before midnight.  They obtained the warrant after several successful undercover drug purchases.     Around 11:45 Tuesday night New Hope Police officers responded to a trailer park at the intersection of Ed Spears road and Highway 431. When they arrived at the scene, they found two victims, who are sisters.  Both got into an altercation in the mobile home.  One sister says she was hit repeatedly in the head, and the other says she was thrown through a window.
