  • Two Arrested After Graduation House Party In Lawrence County

    Four people were arrested this week in Lawrence County after sheriff’s deputies busted two separate open house parties.  Three of the arrests were adults who allowed minors to drink at the parties. One of the women charged with hosting these illegal graduation parties knew some of the teenagers well.  Investigators say she definitely should have known better.     The Alabama Jubilee celebrated its 35th year on May 26-27, 2012 at Point Mallard Park in Decatur.  Nearly 40,000 people turned out both days to see the 64 hot air balloons.  They even saw a stunt man, Jason Elliston of Columbus, Georgia, ride on top of one of the balloons.   • Lawrence County Man Arrested In Marijuana Sting

    Agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Drug Task Force and Lawrence County District Attorney’s office arrested a man after six-month investigation into alleged drug activity in and out of his home. Johnathan Dwight Key is currently in the Lawrence County Jail.  He is charged with one count of drug trafficking and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.     American Legion Post 49 hosted an event in Athens on Memorial Day.  People remembered those who have lost their lives, and also honored a special serviceman who is still alive.     The John Mark Stallings Special Needs Accessible Playground Splash Pad of Morgan County is a new state-of-the-art playground for children with special needs.  The playground is located in Sparkman Park in Hartselle, but its reputation has extended far beyond the city limits and the county line.  Here are some pictures.
