    MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — Get ready for a free shopping day. Saturday, October 18, the Closet at Monrovia Church of Christ will open for families in need of new clothes. The day is for families that may be facing financial stress because of job loss, illness or other problems. The Closet has helped more than 900 families since opening in April 2012.     Superintendent: Decatur High School in “secure mode” for several hours, dismisses on time

    DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Police and school administrators were at Decatur High School, which was in “secure mode” – similar to lockdown, for several hours Thursday. Superintendent Ed Nichols said a 911 call came in at 10 a.m. Someone called police after hearing about an unspecified threat against the school.     Auburn University’s Haley Center Given All Clear, Classes Resume

    AUBURN, Ala. (WHNT) – Auburn University’s Haley Center re-opened Tuesday around 12 p.m. after closing for a bomb threat the previous two hours. Classes resumed in the building at 2 p.m. Tuesday.     Madison County District One Lends Help to Residents in Need

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Northeastern Madison County residents have an opportunity to lend a helping hand to their neighbors in the Human Essential Needs Drive.     Convenience Store Employees Accused of Selling Items Stolen From Publix, Kroger

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville Police Department says a handful of convenience store employees have been charged with selling stolen goods.   Police teamed up with area Publix and Kroger stores for the past few months to make these arrests.
