MADISON, Ala. – Madison Mayor Paul Finley announced the city’s intentions to buy body cameras for the Madison Police Department at a city council work session on Thursday.
Finley told the council, newly installed Madison Police Chief David Jernigan specifically asked for them, and he hopes to fulfill that request.
Finley says he has enough money in the budget to make the purchase, but wants to make sure the Madison City Council is fully on board before making the purchase.
He says, he expects the cameras to be ordered in the next two months.
WHNT News 19 asked Mayor Finley if requested footage would be available to the public. He said that issue would have to be explored further before he could comment.
