UPDATE: Toddler hit by a vehicle in Albertville Friday afternoon passed away

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – The toddler who was hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon passed away at a hospital.

Albertville Police Assistant Chief Jamie Smith says it happened at Pedro’s Tire Shop on Adams Drive. Smith says the mother of the child, Maria Perez Lucas, was moving a vehicle on the property and didn’t see her nearly two-year-old daughter come out of an office nearby.

Smith says the mother didn’t realize she ran over the child until she got out of the vehicle.

Responders took Allison Damarri to Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz where she was pronounced dead.

Albertville Police detectives and a traffic homicide detective are working the investigation.

Allison would have been two next month.
