AUBURN, Ala. (al.com) - Bruce Pearl wants a little more recognition for the state of Alabama.
After his Auburn team swept archrival Alabama for the first time since 2009, the Tigers' third-year head coach felt the cross-state series has been "minimized" by some pundits outside of Alabama. Pearl expressed his opinion on the under-coverage of the rivalry Monday while previewing Auburn's Tuesday night home game against Mississippi State.
The result was a lengthy diatribe by Pearl, who feels the rivalry -- which has heated up since he took over at Auburn and Avery Johnson took over at Alabama -- deserves its due recognition.
