UPDATE: State troopers identify two killed in Limestone County wreck

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — A two-vehicle crash Sunday, has claimed two lives and injured three others.

Maria Louisa Cruz, 38, of Huntsville, and Luis Gomez, 35, of Smyrna, Tennessee, were both killed when the 2009 Nissan Versa Cruz they were driving hit a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Jessie Clark, 65, of Taft, Tennessee. Cruz and Gomez were pronounced dead at the scene.

Clark, along with two passengers in Cruz’s vehicle, were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The crash occurred on Alabama 53 one mile south of Ardmore.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
