HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –  Huntsville Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a one-year-old Friday evening at Martin Luther King, Jr. Hwy. and Kelly Cemetery Rd.

According to police, a car with four passengers was travelling west on Kelly Cemetery Road and pulled into the path of a car with one occupant traveling north on Martin Luther King, Jr. Hwy.

The impact ejected two of the passengers, one adult and one child, from the car that was traveling on Kelly Cemetery Road. The child, one-year-old Booker Cowan, died at the scene.

It appears he was not in a child safety seat and his mother who was also ejected was not wearing a seat belt.

Neither the mother nor any of the other people involved have life-threatening injuries at this point.

The investigation is ongoing.
