Athens police search for shooting suspect

ATHENS, Ala. – Athens police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that happened Thursday night around 10 p.m. on Brownsferry Street.

Police say they received a call that someone had been shot.  When officers arrived, they located a man on the front porch of the residence that had been shot in the abdomen.

Police say the man was flown by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital.

Officers say they were able to briefly speak with the man before being flown to the hospital.

At this time there is no update on the man’s condition.

Police suspect that Kevaun Roosevelt Turner was involved in the shooting and have obtained warrants for his arrest for assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Police describe Turner as being 25-years-old, 5’10” tall, and weighing approximately 160 pounds.

Turner’s last known address was in Athens, but police say they have received information that Turner was spotted in Pulaski, Tenn. and Limestone County since the shooting last night.

Police warn that Turner should be considered armed and dangerous.
