HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen & Thrift Store is in need of 75 to 100 turkeys by this Saturday in order to have enough birds to fill their annual food boxes. Anyone who would like to donate can take turkeys to the soup kitchen, which is located at 2412 Memorial Parkway NW.

It's open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday.

Sharon Walker, owner of the Rose of Sharon, said volunteers will deliver the food boxes, door-to-door, on Saturday morning in one north Huntsville neighborhood.

Walker said they are also in need of monetary donations and clothing and cold weather gear donations for those in need. For the monetary gifts, she said the dollars are down significantly this year. Walker said they depend on this money to keep helping others all year long.
