Top-ranked Alabama facing Washington in CFP semifinal

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AL.com)- Alabama’s inclusion in the College Football Playoff was never in doubt.

The only uncertainty was which team the Crimson Tide would play on the last day of 2016.

Now, everyone knows after the committee charged with making the pairings announced the matchups Sunday.

Top-ranked Alabama will return to the site of its latest conquest — the Georgia Dome — and will face No. 4 Washington in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Eve. The Huskies won the Pac-12 title Friday and finished 12-1. Their only loss was to USC — a team Alabama defeated in its season opener, 52-6.
