Suspicious barn fire in Limestone County leads to investigation

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. – Authorities in Limestone County are trying to determine what started a barn fire early Monday morning. It started around 2:00 a.m. on Highway 251 near Sharp Road.

Volunteer firefighters arrived to find a barn engulfed in flames. The building was housing more than 20 bales of hay.

It took firefighters hours to extinguish the fire.

Witnesses tell investigators they saw two people running from the barn around the time the fire started. The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the claim.

The barn was severely damaged in the fire, and one lane of Highway 251 was blocked by fire crews working in the area.
