40 acres burn in Albertville; cause believed to be sparks from downed power pole

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. – Multiple agencies responded to a fire off of Goodwin Road in Albertville  Monday afternoon.

Albertville Fire and Rescue Chief Brad Hix says the cause seems to be from sparks from a power pole that blew over in the strong winds.  Officials say the flames burned about 40 acres of woods.

An 18-wheeler truck, a car, and a tractor burned outside a home near the fire. Hix says no homes were damaged. Crews worked to prevent the fire from threatening the area.

Firefighters hope the expected rain Monday evening will help put out the flames. High winds worked against crews in containing the fire.
