HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For a lot of folks, Thanksgiving and deer hunting go hand in hand. But, like most things in life, there are a few risks.

People are occasionally shot and killed when they are mistaken for deer by other hunters.

So, be sure you always wear some kind of orange or reflective clothing becaust the more visible you are, the better.

“There’s a lot of people that enjoy this and it’s safe, but sometimes accidents happen and a lot of times it’s accidents that could have been prevented. These rules and regulations are out there for a reason, it’s to keep everybody safe, not just that person but somebody else that may be out in the woods at the same time as you are.” says Keith Stephens with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission:

Deer hunting season for antlered bucks lasts until January 15th.

The season varies for unantlered deer, depending on where you live and how you are hunting, it could last until February 10th or end on January 2nd.
