UNA prepares for familiar opponent in UNC-Pembroke

FLORENCE, Ala. (roarlions.com) - Top seeded North Alabama will host fifth seeded North Carolina-Pembroke Saturday at Braly Stadium at noon in the second round of Super Region 2 play in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

UNC Pembroke advanced to play UNA with a 24-21 road win at third seeded Valdosta State in the opening round. In other Super Region 2 games, seventh seeded Tuskegee knocked off No. 2 seed Newberry 35-33 on the road, and sixth seeded North Greenville knocked off No. 4 seed Florida Tech 27-13 on the road.

This will be the fourth straight season that North Alabama and North Carolina-Pembroke will have met on the football field. It will also be the second post-season meeting in four years. UNA is 3-0 against the Braves, having defeated them 37-13 at Pembroke in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Division II Playoffs, 27-6 in 2014 in a regular-season game at Pembroke and 62-28 in Florence last season.

The Braves bring a 10-1 record to Braly Stadium, with their only loss coming at Tuskegee back ion Oct.1, 21-16.
