GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. --  Representative Will Ainsworth and Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall organized an appreciation day for law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders Wednesday.

Smoke from a grill drifted across waiting food and music from a band rang over the crowd at Civitan Park in Guntersville Wednesday morning. Just about every law enforcement agency, fire department, and first response organization were represented.

"It's an appreciation day for law enforcement, firefighters, and also first responders. We just wanted to have a cookout, give door prizes, and tell them 'thank you' for everything they do for our community and Marshall County," Representative Will Ainsworth says.

Ainsworth and Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall organized the event. The Marshall County Sheriff's Office, police departments, fire departments, and first responders came from across Marhsall County. Local officials also helped say 'thank you'.  "Really, we just want them to know, 'hey, we want to appreciate everything you do daily to keep us safe, to protect us,'. It's just a great thing that all these men and women do for our county and State," Ainsworth says.

They don't do the job for thanks, but saying it always goes a long way. "That was our goal, just to let everybody come here and have a good time, socialize, eat good food, hear good music, win some door prizes, and let them know that we appreciate what they do for our county," Ainsworth says.
